Seminars & Workshops for Institutes of Further Education

AniEd workshops and seminars are offered by our qualified training & behaviour practitioners in your institution, scheduled to best suit your calendar of events.

Each event has been designed to link in with Level 5 Animal Care and Level 6 Animal Science major & minor awards, and are designed with feedback from Further Education teachers and students.

Canine First Aid Workshop

This workshop is delivered on site and provides your students with knowledge and skills allowing them to carry out basic emergency procedures, safely and effectively.
Instruction is delivered through practical demonstration and group work with ongoing continuous assessment which is completed on the day. This combined with discussion and lots of practice on our resus-dummies & model-dogs makes for a fun and practical workshop.

Each student receives a starter canine first aid kit, certificate and enrollment into our online learning portal where they can access further resources.

Cost: €60.00 per participant (plus mileage outside of Dublin) minimum of 10 participants

Safe-Dog Handling

This day long workshop covers important instruction & practice in defensive dog handling techniques.
We emphasise the importance of developing skill and knowledge in identifying potentially unsafe situations and techniques to diffuse such interactions.
The goal of this workshop is to raise each student’s awareness, improving their safety during course activities and in industry.
Each student will get access to a webinar of instruction and Certificate of Attendance.

Cost: €290 per group (plus mileage outside Dublin)

Canine Nutrition Seminar

This seminar is approx. three hours long and covers dietary requirements, physiology, energy & lifestage requirements, commercial feeding, reading pet food labels & marketing, dangerous foods for dogs and malnutrition (obesity).

Students will participate in interactive activities throughout and have access to a webinar of instruction. They will each receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Canine Body Language Seminar

This seminar is approx. three hours long and covers a wide range of signalling that dogs use in communication with each other and with humans. Through interactive activities students will learn to recognise signs of comfort and discomfort in dogs, how to maintain safety by interpreting canine body language and assessing canine welfare by assessing signalling.

Students will have access to our instructional webinar and receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Animal Welfare Science Seminar

This seminar is approx. three hours long looking at the study of animal welfare science and emphasising the students’ ability to critically evaluate emotive and controversial topics.
Through interactive activities we will cover assessing welfare, with an emphasis on behavioural assessments, along with discussion of ethical and welfare concerns and designing welfare audits to improve animal welfare.

Students will have access to our instructional webinar and receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Teaching Dogs

All animals learn in similar ways and in dog training we use specific understanding of this to design training programs. With a straightforward approaching to canine learning, this approx. three hour seminar covers how to identify the causes of unwanted behaviour and approaches to improving behaviour.
This will help students evaluate a training issue and design training solutions.

Dog-Child Safety Seminar

This approx. three-hour seminar is ideal for students of childcare and early education. Dogs can pose significant risks to children and education of parents and pet owners can help to raise awareness and prevent bites.
