Business Management

Our industry is new, exciting, growing and most of all, unique. This means to run a petcare business there is a level of awareness that is individual to you and this industry. This course covers general business management as well as the special requirements petcare businesses will have.

Where? you will attend our centre for a two day seminar and then complete the study and assessment work on a homestudy basis.

How long? Course work must be completed over four months. 

How much? Course fees: €120 includes two day seminar, comprehensive course materials, supplementary resources and online support
If you choose to submit assessment work, which is optional, the assessment fee is €40, payable at submission.

Who should do this course? This course is ideal for any one running or thinking about running a petcare business, whether as a sole trader, partnership or company. 

What will I learn? Course content includes: business planning, marketing, responsible business practices, insurance, management roles & responsibilities, health & safety, policies & procedures.

Assessment: You will study the different requirements and approaches to business planning, begin to develop social media marketing strategies, devise health & safety based policies for your business.

We will ask you how you would like to pay, and raise an invoice for you by which you can pay course fees. 
Upon receipt of payment we will send you your Learner Handbook and ask that you sign and return the declaration at the back.
Once all that admin is done, you will be good to go. You will receive access to the course online area when you attend for the course seminar.


Client Relations & Counselling Skills

Your role as a pet care professional will often lead you to develop relationships with pet owners, for whom you will become a source of knowledge about their pet. To truly benefit the pet's welfare, we must be able to advise pet owners and help them develop an understanding for their pets' needs.

Where? you will attend our centre for a one day seminar and then complete the study and assessment work on a homestudy basis.

How long? Course work must be completed over three months. 

How much? Course fees: €90 includes one day seminar, comprehensive course materials, supplementary resources and online support
If you choose to submit assessment work, which is optional, the assessment fee is €20, payable at submission.

Who should do this course? This course is perfect for all who work or volunteer in roles where helping pet owners and people is the key to improving animal welfare. It is recommended that you can demonstrate that you have knowledge and skill equivalent to Canine Behaviour Foundations level, at least. 

What will I learn? Course content includes: understanding the human-animal relationship, developing relationships with pet owners and other stakeholders, professionalism, counselling skills, the animal care industry

Assessment: You will complete works on counselling requirements in relation to pet loss and case studies outlining client interactions.

Instruction Skills

The term 'dog trainer' is a misnomer! We really are 'people' trainers, in that we must teach people, who are not skilled in mechanics or knowledgeable in dog behaviour, to teach their dogs and essentially become dog trainers!

Where? you will attend our centre for a one day seminar and then complete the study and assessment work on a homestudy basis.

How long? Course work must be completed over three months. 

How much? Course fees: €90 includes two day seminar, comprehensive course materials, supplementary resources and online support
If you choose to submit assessment work, which is optional, the assessment fee is €20, payable at submission.

Who should do this course? This course is ideal for all dog trainers and student dog trainers. 
It is recommended that you can demonstrate that you have knowledge and skill equivalent to Canine Behaviour Foundations level, at least. 

What will I learn? Course content includes: communication skills, people training, professionalism, the animal care industry.

Assessment: You will produce client educational material using different media and submit filmed and edited practicals demonstrating instruction and coaching skills.

We will ask you how you would like to pay, and raise an invoice for you by which you can pay course fees. 
Upon receipt of payment we will send you your Learner Handbook and ask that you sign and return the declaration at the back.
Once all that admin is done, you will be good to go. You will receive access to the course online area when you attend for the course seminar.


Safe Dog Handling

As much as we love dogs, they can pose serious risks to health and safety, especially for those who must handle and be in close contact with dogs.

Where? you will attend our centre for a one day workshop 

How long? Course work is completed during the workshop day so there are no other assessments.  

How much? Course fees: €90 includes one day workshop, comprehensive course materials, supplementary resources and online support.

Who should do this course? This course is recommended as a requirement for all who work with, volunteer with dogs and who deal with dogs on a regular basis in their day to day work or lives. 

What will I learn? Course content includes: assessing risk, assessing the environment, canine body language, preventing the escalation of behaviour, handler behaviour, handling skills & tools.

Assessment: There will be continuous assessment throughout the day on handling skills and the use of tools.
